Disappointed with this Dirt Devil 082660 Vision Canister Vacuum - F. Stiles - Texas
Bought this to replace my Dirt Devil Breeze Vision bagless canister vacuum which is about 10 years old and still works but has plastic wands that don't always hold the tools. As well, I seem to be cleaning them out more frequently. But compared to the new vacuum, the handle with wands is longer, the dirt cup large enough to clean the whole house, and the permafilter lasts the life of the vacuum. This is the better product. I don't want to stoop to vacuum or clean the tiny dirt cup after each use on my wool area rugs. And I don't want to buy new filters. The suction seems similar. The "new and improved" Dirt Devil is not for me.

This is my second vac of the same type. It does the job well till it works.
Nothing exceptional. Turbo brush is poor. On my first vac the brush attachment stop working within several months, and the whole vac died (motor) just after the warranty period. Unfortunately I already bought several filters so I decided it is better to buy the same model in order to use them hoping for improved quality.

My overall opinion at the moment is nor bad or good. I have negative experience with the same model some time ago and I still do not know if my new vac will be better. One may question why there are so many "refurbished" 082660 vacs offered at DirtDevil's site?

Dirt Devil 082600 Vision Bagless Canister Vacuum Review

I love this vacuum!! :) I went nuts trying to find a vacuum that would work in our new home. We have hardwood floors with area rugs in most of our rooms and most vacuums I found would only work well on either the bare floor or the carpet, not both. I tried a couple of uprights before deciding to check out canisters. The uprights didn't seem to get all of the fur out of the carpets and they did a lousy job, at best, with the bare floors. The suction on this unit is amazing and it is adjustable. I have 4 ferrets and 2 cats that make a mess of our area rugs and a parrot that loves to throw his seeds all over the floor. It pulled the fur out of the rugs with one pass, after the Eureka upright I tried went over the area numerous times. It sucked the bird seed up without making the seeds fly across the floor. Although it comes with a separate bare floor attachment, the carpet attachment has a pedal that allows you to stop the brush from rotating so you can go from carpet to bare floors easily. Plus it is small enough to fit under your furniture. The dust cup is a great size. I can vacuum twice before having to empty it and it is a breeze to empty. One complaint I have is that the filter that is in the dust cup is attached which does make it harder to clean but I found that I could just take it outside, tap it clean and pull out any larger dust balls. Don't pay attention to the person who said that it is hard to tell the difference between the units handle and the handle for the dust cup. The dust cup is labeled, not to mention the handle for the unit itself is the color of the unit itself and the handle for the dust cup is the color of the dust cup. The vacuum glides over the bare floors and the carpet without any problems. I do wish that the part of the vacuum that the hose attaches to rotated but it isn't a big deal. Still a heck of a vacuum for any type of floor. I would highly recommend it. GO IMMEDIATELY AND BUY THIS VACUUM!!!!

I decided to buy this despite all the bad reviews, and so far, so good. I've had it about a month, and use it for everything in my home, including carpet, porcelain tile, hardwood flooring and lineoleum as well as my couch and chair and my bedspread and pillows. I'm a new homeowner, and the 4 different flooring surfaces to clean were a bit daunting until I realized that this vacuum will clean them all without having to change attachments. You can easily turn off the brush when going from carpet to hard floor, and this thing sucks up pet hair like you'd not believe out of the carpet and off the couch and chairs. I have two cats who won't stay off my chenile couch, and this vacuum is powerful enough to suck up all the cat hair. I can see where people have complained about accidentally pulling out the canister by reaching for the wrong handle, but I'm careful to grab hold of the handle on the body. It's extremely lightweight, and portable enough to tote up and down three flights of stairs to clean up after the cat litter that goes everywhere. I loved this so much that I bought one for my mother who had an older dirt devil canister vac which she loved, but had a broken strap. My favorite features are the METAL extension tubes (I've not seen those on any vacumms since I was a wee kiddo) and the retractable cord.

I purchased the Vision bagless three years ago and it has been the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used. Along with the other cat owner who has reviewed this machine, I agree that it pulls out every bit of hair my cats leave. I like this machine so much that I am getting a second one to leave downstairs so I don't have to lug it up and down the stairs. Yeah, I am lazy, but this machine is worth the investment.

The vacuum recommends replacing these filters once every six months; this has been my first replacement in about six years.

I noticed the vacuum was not working as well (i.e. leaving things on the floor), so I purchased this filter. Immediately after seamless installation, I re-vacuumed and picked up a plethora of junk that was not noticeable to the naked eye.

Being the owner of two large dogs, I have to buy a new vacuum every year. I've had all the other brands. Its usually on the cheaper end of the spectrum, around fifty to seventy dollars, without much expectation. This Dirt Devil was a nice surprise of a great working vacuum. My favorite part is that it doesn't have a "level-changer" depending on the thickness of the carpet. The vacuum magically readjusts the height itself! It really has great suction capability, and works awesome on hard floors too, as I hate pushing a broom. It also comes with the 2 or 3 must have attachments that all work great. I even used it to clean my car. Don't you just get annoyed when these sweepers that come with 17 different pieces and parts, and attachments that you get confused with using and storing? Well this vacuum has the necessities only, with no confusion, and I like that!

The very thought of "picking on" this sweeper is challenging but if I must, well.....

The vacuum is a bit louder than most, especially on hard floors. Sometimes my ears are a bit bothered. Its worth it for a good working vacuum, though. The only other con I can think of, is it doesn't have a very long cord. Of course, what small appliances do anymore? If your looking for a solid, great working, loud, and diverse for carpet ad hard floor vacuum, this Dirt Devil is the machine for you. Most important of all, its VERY INEXPENSIVE.

If you are looking for a quality vacuum cleaner that will last you longer than year or if you plan to use your vacuum on a weekly basis, I'd suggest investing in a better vacuum cleaner than this model. Here are three things I noticed upon using the vacuum cleaner within the first use: it blows dust everywhere as I am vacuuming and so I'm chasing after the dust particles; the cord is long and awkward and the vacuum cleaner ate the cord and stripped the rubber covering off of it (i taped it with duck tape); finally cleaning out the bagless filter can be messy and I'd recommend wearing something to cover your face. Vacuum cleaners should make your cleaning easy not more work!
